Passing Papers

Today my niece is taking title and closing on her house. Years ago when my son bought his house, he told me he was "passing papers". I asked what that was and he said it was when you sign papers to take title of a house. I told him that we call it "closing". I thought that the term "passing papers" was funny, but in reality it is the most specific term. All you do at closing is pass a bunch of papers from person to person to have them sign. I wish everything could be that simple. So, instead of "writing a blog", I will just "type words".
