Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day. It is raining out so the town parade may not go on. Every year my town has a parade at 10am. Years ago I went to it and really enjoyed it. I watched as the school kids paraded by. I watched the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts march proudly. I saw the WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans drive past in vintage cars. For the past few years I have not gone. I no longer have school age children. The older veterans are no longer with us. I have no one that I know walking to wait for and cheer for. Life has moved on and with it has gone the parade excitement. I feel bad that I no longer have that spirit.
