One Extra Minute
Is there a clause about greed in the Hippocratic oath? Years ago if you needed to speak to a doctor if you were not well and it was after hours, they would call you back. They never charged for the call. Most still do not. Our new doctor has decided that her time is so valuable that if she calls you, you pay her. If you have a bad reaction to a medication she prescribed for you, you pay the price. She values her time in minutes. Five to ten minutes equals $100. Eleven to 20 minutes equals $200. Twenty one minutes to thirty minutes equals $300. For some reason the call is never ten or twenty minutes. It is always eleven or twenty one minutes. She must sit there with a stopwatch. If a doctor ever did that to me, they would no longer be my doctor.
