Seven Years
Today is my younger son's seventh anniversary. It also marks the day my granddaughter turns six months. As each milestone passes it will remind me of the days when my mother was here to see them. Last week for my husband's birthday, I bought the greeting card for my father to give to him. My mother was always the one who signed the cards. When it came time to write my father's name, I just could not see the word "Pop" without the word "Mom". I wrote "Love, Mom and Pop". It felt better for me to see their names together. I am just not ready for certain realities, so I will do what is best for me until I am.
