Up In Smoke

I do not understand why people smoke. Years ago you did not know that it caused cancer. In fact one cigarette brand's slogan was, "Just what the doctor ordered". Nowadays, we know the health risks but people still smoke. One of my doctors is a heavy smoker. She is in her late twenties so when she started to smoke she knew the risks. She comes in smelling of smoke and between every patient she has a cigarette. She got a cold last week and it turned into pneumonia. She says that she has a lot of chest pain. While we are all upset that she is sick, the first statement out of everyone's mouth is that she should stop smoking. The office is even taking bets on whether or not she is smoking even though she has pneumonia. As soon as she feels better, we all plan on yelling at her.
