No Words

It has finally happened. Schools are phasing out books. Along with this decision they are phasing out a lifestyle. In order to conserve on space and save our environment, books are being taken out of the curriculum. Classes will be taught from a Smartboard and information will be online. Books can be downloaded into your Smartphone, computer or reading tablet. Many schools are assigning each child a personal laptop. Life as we know it not will never be the same. Everything will eventually be affected. The next generation will never know the fun of hanging a fifty pound backpack from their shoulders. They will not have to use their delicate little fingers to turn pages. Down the line, yellow highlighters will fade from their existence as there will be no paper to highlight. Children will not know how to hold a pencil correctly as they will be typing. Cursive (if anyone even remembers that word) will downgrade to printing and printing will downgrade to hieroglyphics. Just the thought of throwing out books leaves me with no words.
